Timeless

Immediate gratification is often associated with children then we are perpetually the children of God. To assume as, ‘Hope for A Generation’ (Fat Freddy’s Drop 2004), the generation that has immediate gratification at our finger tips would not be wrong. We all need to be touched, but if you have a problem downstairs, it will pass, so please do not: I repeat, “do not touch yourself or ourselves, it is the most unkind act you can perform to the human body; for we are here to share our bodies in sexual intercourse”.

What touches us? Other than a sweet Sauvignon, wild strawberries and an iPhone X (Smartphone not to be biased I have made it to the iPhone 8 only recently and thoroughly enjoy my time on my blue screen, but be careful not to stay up with it at night, otherwise you will have blue eyes)..

The immediate gratification of Mum & Dad, for some can wear off, for others the spark remains, like myself, best friends always. If not, we are truly surrounded by the things we have chosen or that have been passed down to us, so treasure them. I am also truly gratified by everything I search for on Google (‘since 1998’), new buildings, pictures of new buildings, art, words, a dictionary, books, and of course music and film. There is nothing like music to get the soul going.

If we consider gratification in terms of longevity, well it makes very little sense to a lot of young people who are amble and mature enough to pay for a mortgage but need the drug of the latest ‘hot seller’. A project needs extra work and so, without that ‘hot seller’ they would not have found the inspiration to keep moving forward. Perhaps I am wrong? But does everyone have some form of vice? Some form of high? Some are more dependant than others.

Because our immediacy gives us an abundance of reflective love and so it seems in its moment, not constant moments of work and treachery, but the odd moment: timeless in its end for we are always in a present moment. Now try to translate the last time it happened through natural means – i.e. Newspaper article, book passage, artwork, etc. And see how you can translate that emotion into everything you do, suddenly no-longer needing the vice, but the work that went into achieving that moment, if not only for the walk to the Paper shop, listening to the magnetism of the leaves.

Mindfulness is timeless just like instant gratification, because the two are the same. Once you have achieved this you will find work easy, much more enjoyable, and will never want to stop the present moment of an eternal future until you realise everything is unique to you and your spaces, and how you go about preparing yourself for another instant gratifying moment in and through those spaces.

This is all fuelled by money of course, so it is best to work in your chosen profession, but now you will find yourself with added vigour to climb the ladder and advance. We always need fresh new visuals, words and sounds. An image to live by. An opinion to live by. A beat to live by. Once we have grown into independence, its ephemeral quality makes a future of everything we need and have, and more importantly what we will have. That vision of the future, as good as every moment of the living present, makes it ‘a to die for’ moment, (HRH HW 2019).

A project of a longer term can be achieved quickly with the right and good, wholesome theory behind it. Ones convictions must be a tenet that allows no flexibility in the ethos, but gains grace through a rigorous set of rules, repeated over again. It is simply timeless to be immediate, because there is only ever a present moment.
